LAUGHLIN, NV—Grammy Award winner Hank Williams Jr. will perform in the Laughlin Event Center at 8pm on Saturday, September 24, 2016. Tickets from $35 are on sale at www.laughlineventcenter.com and the Edgewater Box Office.
Williams began his career in the shadow of his legendary father, but emerged as a formidable country singer-songwriter in his own right with the 1960s hits “It’s All Over But the Crying” and “Cajun Baby”. With the release in 1969 of “Family Tradition” he broke from the Nashville mainstream by adopting a rebel image and writing/recording in a style incorporating blues and southern rock influences. The results were staggering as 42 Top 10 hits followed, plus two CMA Entertainer of the Year honors, three ACM Entertainer of the Year honors, multiple Grammy nominations, and a Grammy award for “There’s a Tear in My Beer”, a duet with his late father using electronic merging technology. As a songwriter, Williams has won 20 BMI Awards as well as 4 Emmys for “Are You Ready For Some Football?,” heard nationally as the theme song of ABC and ESPN’s Monday Night Football telecasts, aired for 21 years.
He has sold over 55 million albums, reaching gold, platinum and multi-platinum status. In 2008 he received the BMI Icon award, joining an elite group that includes Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Dolly Parton.
